Holmes Media: From Kickin Rocks to a Fully Branded Content Empire

How we transformed a casual content idea into a sophisticated, gamified media platform with a sponsorship pipeline in just 8 weeks.

The Challenge

Jeff Holmes came to us with passion for content and a name — Kickin Rocks — but no real system behind it. He wanted to launch a YouTube podcast, monetize it, and repurpose content across social platforms. Solid goals, but without a differentiator, brand identity, or structured strategy to attract local advertisers.

He had no content calendar, no tracking system, no sponsorship outreach infrastructure, and nothing that would make a local advertiser stop scrolling.

The Solution

Rather than execute the standard "podcast and post" playbook, we scrapped ordinary and built something nobody in Odessa, Missouri had seen before.

We created a gamified, Stranger Things–themed video series called "Odessa: A Small Town Mystery" — structured in three 30-day seasons, each telling a story that ends on a hook leading to the next. Every episode contains a hidden fingerprint. Viewers collect them, log them in a custom interactive dashboard, earn points, climb a leaderboard, and unlock trivia hotspots on a location map.

Infrastructure Built During Engagement:

  • Series architecture: story seasons, episode progression, and the engagement mechanic
  • Custom audience dashboard: video broadcast, collection rules, progress tracking, leaderboard, social sharing links, and map-based trivia hotspots

The Situation
